Caring for your Howard's shirts

THE collar, cuffs, sleeves, button placket : as many parts of your shirt as you are likely to stain.

First of all, we can never advise you enough to focus on quality regarding buying a shirt. The material of the shirts is a guarantee of quality. So, prefer a shirt 100% cotton (or with a maximum percentage of cotton).

A shirt sewn in a quality fabric will clean much more easily and will not move after many washes. In addition, excessive washing and ironing damage the fabric, so bet on their quality and strength.

Remember that the care of your clothes go directly impact their lifespan .

To wash your shirts, the washing machine will be your best ally.

But it is important to note the 3 tips following before you start washing your shirts:

- Do not exceed 40 degrees

- Do not stuff the drum of your machine with colors that could bleed.

- Ban the dryer

How to clean a shirt?

Cleaning

Appearance of the stain: Get into the habit of rub gently the stain with a cloth and very hot water immediately.

Soaps and cleaning products are at ban because you risk discolor your garment.

Before putting in the washing machine: If you have shirts with collars removable whales, remove them.

Also have the reflex of Take a look at the entire shirt and target the stains to clean .

This will allow you to avoid unpleasant surprises after washing and to notice any stains that are still present.

Once the spots are targeted, use K2r brand stain remover.

Dab gently then let the product act on the stain for the time indicated on the product, to soak it sufficiently .

Put your shirt(s) in the washing machine at 30 degrees , no more no less. This is the purpose of dry stain remover: to remove stains at low-medium temperatures.

Drying

After putting in the washing machine: Remove your shirt from the washing machine enough quickly to prevent it from becoming impregnated with the bad smell generated by humidity.

Then hang it on a hanger . Again, the dryer is a no-go.

Ironing

Ironing : It is best to iron a shirt again slightly damp and inside out. Start by ironing the sleeves, then the wrists. Continue with the back of the shirt and the pans from the front. Finish with the collar.

If the creases persist, moisten the part where you want to see them disappear.

After ironing: Hang your shirts Or fold them carefully to save you another ironing session.

Remember to put your collar stays back on if you wear shirts with removable collar stays.

NB: Be sure to wear your shirt once your deodorant is dry.

Some exceptions

For a more thorough wash, here are our Tips for whitening your shirt collars, cuffs and plackets:

Of Marseille soap for more or less visible stains:

Gently rub the dirty parts with barely damp Marseille soap. Once a small crust of soap forms on the stain, leave it to act for at least 1 hour, then put it in the machine following our previous recommendations.

Of white vinegar for visible spots:

Pour a mixture of: 50% water and 50% white vinegar. Rub gently then rinse with hot water . Put your shirt in the machine following our previous recommendations.
