Custom Made Shirt
Share
I created Howard's Paris in 1997 and since the beginning, controlling the product from A to Z has been obvious to me. Today, my team has grown and it is 3 as we move forward in the adventure and share their passion .
I don't just make ready-to-wear shirt and tie collections but also offer a custom-made service. And that's what we're going to focus on: the offer is interesting in terms of quality-price ratio and above all up to the standards of the most demanding and passionate among you.
Know-how and values
The beginning : embark on the adventure, trust and do THE only test of your shirt directly in store. Be reassured and taken in hand.
You will either deal with me or with Quentin or Clémence , the two other "hands" of the shop. The measurement is taken in about thirty minutes (by appointment or without). Once your measurements are taken and recorded in your file, they are sent to the workshops to begin the creation of the piece . This is where the magic of making begins .
It is a team of 7 seamstresses who take care of the custom manufacturing of your shirt. For 20 years, I have strived to be perfectly transparent and meticulous with my seamstresses when sending your measurements to the workshop. Customer follow-up is essential and should not be neglected. Everything must be perfectly clear and not waste time .
The assembly of your shirt must be delicate and precise , the finishes sharp and perfectly mastered . In fact, Howard's Paris custom shirts are " beautiful and good exceptional pieces well assembled, and with passion ".
There are a number of manual operations involved in the manufacture of your shirt, and for the pleasure of the most demanding, a possibility of customization and adaptation of the manufacturing to your request.
Fabrics
Since the beginning I have worked with weavers, mostly English and Italian .
In the workshops, there are 2000 rolls of fabric from more than 9 different weavers that make up the pieces. Exclusively chosen by my eyes for my collections and my "books" of custom shirts. We count Thomas Mason , Canclini, Monti and Alumo for the best known.
Among these 'few' rolls, some fabrics are rare and exclusive (only intended for certain buyers like him). Both from great weavers and from small, little-known houses with precious know-how and unfortunately very often forgotten.
I love the beautiful stories of these family houses, historically famous , which have a soul and a desire to perpetuate craftsmanship , to share their passion . That's how I like to work.
Experience
My 20 years of experience in the store, seeking precision in measurements, allows me to take simple and controlled measurements.
You want a custom-made shirt, which combines comfort and precision and there is no secret. It is the constant search for the comfort and of the precision beauty which takes precedence. The measurement taken in store, in my beautiful boutique on the 8th, is done on patronage .
Two adjustments are possible : fitted and non-fitted . For sizes , the workshops have patterns ranging from 36 to 46 .
Manual operations
From the design of the pattern to the choice of fabric , everything starts from scratch . And there are nearly twenty steps that the 7 seamstresses work through, one after the other.
You have 3 options to choose from: the basic one, machine sewing, the semi-handmade ( half of the shirt made by hand ) and the full-handmade ( the whole shirt made by hand ). Where to start after taking measurements?
You choose your collar from the 80 hand-drawn by me. You will find 9 different collar linings : from the thinnest to the thickest . For the choice of cuffs , 40 are available, all linked to the lining of your collar , because it is what it does most harmoniously. But the selection is so wide that your choice can quickly become complicated.
So everything was cleverly thought out .
Basically, the throat is simple, the seams are fine and discreet , English style, 1 needle , 9 stitches per cm made on a traditional flat machine . The reinforcement swallow is decorated with the house coat of arms , the buttons are in Australian mother-of-pearl Mother of Pearl . The whales are integrated and the collar is heat-sealed . The best and most refined .
However, you can change everything.
Choose a double needle seam rather than English , an American throat rather than simple , a neutral reinforcement swallow , wooden or colored buttons. Everything is possible and achievable . Because it's your shirt, only you know what will suit you and please you the most.
For the semi-handmade option , the same. You have control over everything. This time, the sail and the collar stand , the swallow and the armhole are entirely assembled by hand by the seamstresses.
For the full-handmade option : the collar , buttonholes , swallow , armhole , travettos and throat of the shirt are assembled entirely by hand .
On request
Finally a part just for you. The most personal and the most interesting of all these explanations. Finally the most exciting even if it is not obligatory. However, as long as you have a beautiful custom-made shirt, you might as well get involved and get wet on the details , which for me are not.
If you know a little about made-to-measure, you should know that you can make an offset armhole , which provides a little extra ease of movement compared to shirts with seams that are sewn opposite each other.
For the more creative among you, ask me to design your own collar , screen print your buttons, add one or more embroideries , sew travettos .
Ask for anything you want, anything is possible.
It is also possible to decatize your fabric in the workshop before sending it. This allows, both to prepare the fabric for its future life, but above all to prevent it from moving during washing , shrinking Or is stretching out . A godsend for those among you, travel a lot and move on to the machine very often their shirt. Give it a try, you won't be disappointed. If you want to wear your shirt the same day it's delivered, ask for it to be washed, r ironed, delivered on a hanger in a cover , and possibly without label .
Price
The price varies depending on the fabric you choose. For a basic fabric in poplin , twill or oxford , count 210 euros for a shirt without options , 260 euros for a semi-handmade shirt and 290 euros for a full-handmade shirt . For other fabrics, the choice is so vast that everything depends on the weight , the count and the origin of the latter.
Deadline
From your measurement taken in store or remotely , and the verification of it once received, allow 5 weeks . If necessary, readjustments in the Parisian workshop , in 2 hours , can be carried out. Mention if you want to receive your custom-made shirt at your home or office , by courier in a cover , washed and ironed .
